Public School Choice:
Creating & Expanding Options for all South Carolina Children

The Office of Public School Choice assists schools and districts in identifying educational options and resources that will uniquely suit student learning needs in a variety of formats. Public School Choice puts the focus on matching student learning needs with educational structures that build upon and expand their interests and abilities. Public School Choice options may include the following programs/initiatives:

Alternative Schools,
Charter Schools,
Immersion Programs (Arts Immersion, Language Immersion),
Magnet Schools,
Middle/Early Colleges,
Montessori Schools,
Natural Resource Schools, and
Single-Gender Initiatives

The goal of all Public School Choice programs is to establish or expand options that enable innovation and increase student achievement. 

The Office of Public School Choice is committed to working with schools and districts as they identify structures and programs that expand the number of local educational options for students and families. We provide technical assistance, professional development, on-site visits, and data to assist educational stakeholders as they establish or expand Public School Choice options in local schools. We encourage educators and parents to contact our office for information regarding the implementation and development of quality Public School Choice programs in South Carolina.
